Whilst I cannot envisage many people performing this 'action' on the daily commute (just like with Phoenix Wright asking its players to scream "OBJECTION!" into the DS' mic), the new 'spirit pipe' does sound brilliantly original: the game asks the player to blow into the mic at key moments, as if playing a....well, a pipe. The touch screen will be used to adjust the pitch of the resulting tone. Like with previous Zelda games, melodies will have to be learnt and then played at the right moments to open doors and suchlike.
Games that use the DS mic have often been criticised as being gimmicky and unnecessary (especially in the DS' early days) but this sounds like fun, even if you look like a bit of an idiot whilst doing it. Hell, how many times do us gamers pull weird faces when playing games anyway? :)
Be interesting to see how they pull it off!
